A Whole Island Helped Bring Suzie Home

Natasha Lapsley had only owned Suzie, her new cocker spaniel, for about 90 minutes when Storm Boelo's strong winds blew open her garden gate on the Isle of Man. Suzie slipped out into a place she didn't even know yet.

Natasha followed her around the housing estates in Ramsey for more than an hour before losing sight of her. Then she called Noodle's Canine Rescue for help. Volunteers printed flyers and handed them out all over the area, and they used thermal binoculars and wildlife cameras to look for any sign of Suzie. They guessed she would hunker down somewhere safe, so they kept searching morning, day and night.

On the fourth day, a neighbor two estates over spotted a familiar little dog in her garden. She recognized Suzie from the flyers and online appeals and called Natasha to say, "I think your dog's in my garden."

Natasha said she was overwhelmed by the kindness. People she didn't even know walked their own dogs through the area just to keep an eye out. "It was lovely knowing there were so many people looking out for her," she said.
